Getting Goal-Oriented & Organized

The Doing is the Thing

I’m a perfectionist, a planner, and a notorious all-or-nothing-er (if you didn’t already know this, read here and here.) Sometimes making goals or New Year’s resolutions backfires heinously, because I give up if I don’t make immediate progress or go from 0 to 100 in an instant. Thankfully, I’ve changed a lot, and I’ve learned how better to improve—and the short answer is: Break it down into tiny steps, and then JUST DO IT without fear of it not being perfect.

Here are some of my goals for the month of January.

I AM THE BUSIEST

Hey, loves! I am so sorry I’ve been AWOL. I thought life would slow down once Grease opened, but it hasn’t. Working, packing, moving, family in town, fainting while running (whoops!)—has all been a little much.

Here’s a quick little photo update until I’m back in the swing of things (soon!).

Look at Me! I’m Out of My Comfort Zone

Learning how to belt the right way; taking on the role of Rizzo in Grease

PLAYING RIZZO IN GREASE

This is going to be such an opportunity for growth in my musical theater career for multiple reasons. Rizzo has to:

  • be a memorable, hardass-turned-vulnerable character
  • belt the brazen “Sandra Dee,” and croon the sultry “Worse Things I Could Do”
  • hold herself like she knows she’s sexy
  • get in physical altercations with Sandy and Kenickie
  • be the polar opposite of Sandy
  • dance like she knows how

I’m still stuck in ingenue mode—and classically trained opera-singing mode—so this ballsy, belty high-school-smoker thing is completely out of my comfort zone.

But that’s where all the FUN is!
