Everything in One!

Blogging during the workweek is way too hard at the moment, with a tiny pup, a full workday, and nightly rehearsals. Instead, I’ve just been updating one post throughout the week…

The result is that today’s post is long and packed with exciting things!

A Weekend in Crested Butte, Part 2 of 2

A Long Trail Run

Our first day in Crested Butte was nice and relaxed as we eased into vacation mode. Our second day was relaxed in a different way: after a small, quick breakfast we headed out to the Lower Loop Trail to go trail running and explore! We ended up logging 10.5 miles. (I also took a thousand photos.) And then, of course, we refueled like professionals. Crested Butte is a foodie’s town!

A Weekend in Crested Butte, Part 1 of 2

Running at Lower Loop Trail in Crested Butte, Colorado | THE REAL LIFE, running, fitness, weight loss, weight maintenance, Colorado Denver blogger

The Tradition Continues!

Happy (late) Tuesday, friends! This past weekend, Nick and I wrapped up the end of another busy week and headed out to Crested Butte, what’s now become Memorial Weekend Tradition.

Instead of three recap installments, I’ve pared things down to two, so get ready for photo overload.

When 4 Miles Turn into 7

I am Forrest Gump

Good morning, friends!

I had to stop by and tell you about my run yesterday after work… and share some food pics, of course. We also got The Art of Raising a Puppy in the mail last night and have already read the first three chapters. I want that fluffy little German shepherd puppy on the cover!

After 10 Days Off!

Yesterday after work I went for my first post-surgery run with the man, and it felt great! My last run the night before the surgery was at a 9:21 pace, a faster run than normal (I’d been finally working on speed again) and also my lucky number (long story), so I had a feeling I’d be comparing my first run back to that one. To set myself up for success, I left my Garmin watch at home (and so did Nick).

Platte River Half Race Photos!

Platte River Half Marathon

Good, unflattering, & hilarious

I was a little frustrated with the Platte River Half Marathon official race photo situation this year. Their photographer was only offering prints for purchase; there was no digital option. But then I politely emailed him about it, and he sent me these for free.

Here you’ll see just how in shape Nick is: He smiles and waves throughout the run while I grimace and grumble. It’s pretty funny, actually.

Easter Weekend Snapshots

Happy Monday! I am still in a sleepy daze this morning, but I am fully prepared to share a ton of fun photos from this weekend, which include a new book and salt scrub, a sneak peek of Platte River Half race photos, a hard-yet-short speed workout, and a 10-mile Easter Sunday trail run with gorgeous views.

Take a look!

TGIF

Happy Friday, friends! Although it feels like this week put me through the ringer… I feel like it exhausted me in the best way.

It was a great week at work, I got three solid runs in before my weekend workouts, and I had my first voice lesson in a long time!

Take a look…

A New Bag, Speed Workout, & Old Lady Status

New Mahi Leather bag Cornell

The Mahi Leather Cornell Bag

It’s here! The vintage leather messenger bag/satchel has arrived, and I’m in love. You can tell by the following photo shoot I took with it. Then I did 4.5 miles of fartleks at the park, with steak and wine in my belly from a work lunch event. I never learn.

You’re welcome.

Race Weekend Snapshots

Our First Race Together

This was my 6th half marathon and Nick’s 2nd (he leap-frogged into a full marathon and then ultra distances). I’ve never run alongside someone for the entire duration of a race, so this was a cool experience.

Here’s a breakdown of the weekend, and the race: how it felt, what went well, what didn’t, and whether or not I’d run the Platte River Half Marathon again.
